Obtaining DNA sequence from the UCSC Database

Obtaining genomic data from the UCSC database.

select the "Genomes" link.
Select the May 2004 Human assembly and enter: 
chr4:134,416,924-134,488,579 
in the "position or search term" window, click submit.
Once displayed in the browser, click the "DNA" button in the upper blue bar. 
  • Display options are presented.
Click the “extended case/color options” button. 
Configure the display so that known gene exons are in bold, red and upper case letters.

-Default case set to "Lower"
-Known genes with Toggle Case, Bold checked
-Know genes red set to 255
-Select submit button

  • The results are formatted

Sequence can also be obtained using the Table Browser
